Upcoming Events: Teen/Adult Programming & Saturday Stories

We now have not only have kids programming, but also fun events for adults !

Adult Programming is generally aimed at ages 13 and up, not because we’re dealing with cussing or naughtiness, but because there’s not enough for adults to do in this town and we want to change that.

Tabletop Gaming Night

Anytime between 4 and 7 pm

Newcomers and experienced veterans welcome. Bring your friends or come alone–either way, we will make sure you can play something.

There will be snacks and beverages provided. The librarian on duty will be available to teach rules and settle scoring disputes.

Our next game night will be Tues, September 4th.

(Due to a scheduling conflict, the October Game Night will be on 10/9, NOT 10/2.)

Yarns

Anytime between 4 and 7 pm

Announcing our very own monthly fiber art night – Yarns! On the Third Tuesday of every month, between 4 and 7 pm, come work with yarn, spin yarn, tell yarns–whatever you’d like.

Beginners and experienced crafters welcome!

Snacks and beverages will be provided. If you want to learn to knit or crochet, bring needles and yarn and we’ll teach you the basics! Or bring whatever project you currently have for good company and fun yarns.

We even have a Yarns group on Ravelry!

Our next Yarns will be Tuesday, August 28th!

Also, our Saturday Stories are starting back up!

Saturday, August 25th from 10 – 11am with a program on classic folk tales.  Each of these monthly programs features a story, song, and simple craft. All ages welcome!

We’ll have stories, songs, and simple crafts to learn all about shapes. All are welcome!

Strawberry Festival

Sunday, June 24th from 10 am – 2 pm

 at the Monkton Volunteer Fire Department

Come to our annual fundraiser for fresh strawberries with ice cream and cake, our fabulous book sale / silent auction, and live music.

Looking to clean out your bookshelves?

We accept used book donations starting Thursday, May 31st as soon as we open at 3pm. Please do not leave donations outside where they might be damaged by wind or rain, but drop them by when we are open:

Tuesday 3:00 – 7:00
Thursday 3:00 – 7:00
Friday 9:00 – 1:00
Saturday 9:00 – 1:00

Please be considerate with your donations – do not drop off moldy, severely damaged, or otherwise unsaleable books.

Pop-up Workshop: Weaving!

Thursday, April 26th between 3 pm and 6:30 pm
Friday, April 27th between 9 am and 1 pm

Spring Break Weaving Workshop: Children age 8 and older will do best, but younger participants may come if they bring along an adult helper. Adults are welcome too! Come try your hand at weaving on a homemade straw loom.

An Evening
with Master Gardener Cooter Bushey

Thursday, April 26th from 6:30 pm

Master Gardener Kathleen “Cooter” Bushey will meet with us on Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 pm to talk about her experience as a Master Gardener and answer your questions about planting. Cooter, along with Patty New, helped to plant, and continues to maintain, the flower bed in front of the Russell Library.

Stop by any time during our open hours to make a puppet to take home! There is no charge, and materials will be provided.

Craft Tables
How to Be the Best Nanny : Pinecone Projects for Nannies ...

Thursday, February 22nd from 3 pm – 5 pm

and

Friday, February 23rd from 9 am – 1 pm

We will have two craft tables set up for children of all ages to participate in making several different “bird feeder designs” and “beads are baaack,” as we have some great materials for creating bracelets, bookmarks, and more.
