Come to the Library for our summer reading program! Each Saturday we have a craft, activity, and story for you to enjoy.

Keep a list of the books you read over the summer to hand in the Fall!

WHY?  Receive a free book of your choice as a READING REWARD….

JULY 14:   Volcanoes

What is a volcano? How does a volcano become active? We’ll learn the answer to those questions and more, make our very  own volcanoes…and make them erupt too!

 

 

 

JULY 21:  Rocks, Crystals, and Minerals

Rocks And Minerals Images | Clipart Panda - Free Clipart ...Bring your own special rock to show and tell. Look at some special rock collections. Examine arrowheads (made of rock) from Dr. Russell’s collection. Draw with a chalk rock.

 

 

 

 

JULY 28:   Exploring Rocks

Minerals clipart - ClipgroundHave you ever found a rock shaped like a heart, a dog, or a letter of the alphabet? Bring one to share if you like. We’ll design our very own painted rocks.

 

 

 

AUGUST 4:   Rockin’ with Sounds

Love That Rock ‘n’ Roll Music – earthriderdotcomExplore sound waves using a variety of found objects, and instruments too! Make your own shakers and keep the beat.

 

 

 

 

August 11:  Sounds of Rain and Water

Rain clip art free clipart images - Cliparting.comExplore the water cycle as we learn why rain falls. Everyone makes a rain stick to take home.

Weekly Building Challenge: Week 4

Build a hat or build some shoes.
Build a skirt or build a shirt.
Build a cape or scarf or gloves,
be a paper bag designer!

We’ve got paper lunch bags, masking tape, scissors and markers all ready for you at the library. Stop by any time the library is open:

Tuesday & Thursday 3-7
Friday & Saturday 9-1.

Weekly Building Challenge: Week 3

It’s Lego time!!!

This week we decided that one challenge was boring, so we prepped a whole bunch of different ones!

Can you complete them all?

Building Challenge, Week 2!

This week we’re leveling up with Spaghetti Towers! The rules are simple. Take a kit of:

20 pieces of spaghetti
36 inches of tape
36 inches of string
1 piece of card stock
1 set of scissors

and build as high a tower as you can!

Summer Reading Program TODAY!!!

Today we will be building bridges! Even if you can’t make if for the main event, stop by anytime when we’re open for the week’s building challenge – use pool noodles and toothpicks to build towers, bridges, castles or whatever your imagination desires.

Summer reading records are also available. If you turn in your completed record to Russell Library or the MCS library at the end of the summer, you can get a free book!

Summer Reading Program!

Did you know that we have summer reading program? Every Friday from 10 – 11 am, from early July 14th (that’s THIS FRIDAY)  to August 18th, there’s a new read-aloud and craft right here in our library. This year’s theme is:

Build a Better World

7/14 Bridges

7/21 Legos

7/28 I Can See Clearly Now

8/4 Flight

8/11 Boats

8/18 Fairy Houses

We will also be featuring Weekly Building Challenges throughout the coming months that anyone can explore whenever we are open.
